Dr. Alisha Guthery holds a PhD in Counseling, Education, and Supervision and is a licensed mental health counselor in Washington State. For more than a decade, she has led prevention and intervention efforts addressing domestic and relational violence in the Seattle area, with a strong emphasis on youth-centered programming. She currently serves as a visiting professor at Palo Alto University.
Dr. Guthery’s clinical and scholarly work integrates neurobiological research with embodied, trauma-informed practices to support healing and accountability. She is the creator of BRIDGES, an innovative prevention and intervention program designed to reduce adolescent violence by strengthening emotional regulation, healthy communication, and relationship skills.
As an educator, she develops collaborative and inclusive learning environments and teaches courses on trauma, somatic theory, and feminist theory through a trauma-informed lens. Her work bridges research and practice, preparing future counselors to engage youth with compassion, competence, and courage.
Her research examines societal beliefs that perpetuate relational violence in the United States, with an emphasis on practical, healing-centered interventions. She has presented nationally and internationally, advocating for systemic and sustainable change.
