Donna McElveen currently serves as a field education coordinator for the MSW program at Walden. Most recently, she was director of the undergraduate social work program at North Central University in Minneapolis, where she developed the program and led it through several phases of the accreditation process. Prior to her experience in academia, her professional social work experience addressed the needs of aging adults and their families. Other practice areas include court mediation, crisis housing support, and community mental health. McElveen has served her community through volunteer organizations such as the Union Gospel Mission, where she has provided training to staff on case management and the strengths perspective. She is also a registered volunteer for Augustana Care in Minneapolis. McElveen is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, where she has participated on several committee initiatives.
