Vasileios Margaritis holds a PhD (2010), a MSc (2006) in Community Dentistry, and a Bachelor degree in Dentistry (1999) from the Dental School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has also attended short post doc courses concerning Modern Epidemiology and Qualitative Research at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and at University of Oxford, respectively.
He practiced general and especially preventive dentistry from 2001-2015 in his private practice office in Athens, Greece.
Regarding his university career, he began as a part-time (2012) and then full-time (2015) faculty member at Walden University in the School of Health Sciences, DrPH and PhD in Public Health Programs. In 2019 he was promoted to Senior Core Faculty position. He also has been teaching as Associate and then as Visiting Lecturer and Researcher at Dental School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens since 2006. He teaches or has taught Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Community and Preventive Dentistry.
His recent interests include Public Health, Modern Epidemiology (e.g. Propensity Score Methodology and Inverse Probability Weighting), Community Health Promotion and Education, Curriculum Development and Mixed Methods Research Techniques. He also has a track record of relevant international and national publications. Dr Margaritis has worked as a researcher in community-based research settings in a variety of areas including oral epidemiology and intellectually disabled persons and has served as methodology/statistics expert in many of those projects. In Summer 2016, he received the Faculty Excellence Award of College of Health Sciences, Walden University.
