In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Valamere S. Mikler received her PhD in Industrial Organizational Psychology with a specialization in organizational diversity and social change at Walden University in May 2022. She currently serves as a contributing faculty member in the College of Psychology and Community Services at Walden University. Dr. Mikler began as an administrative writing assistant at Walden’s Writing Center in 2017. She also worked as an instructional technology assistant and faculty support agent for the Office of Teaching and Learning Excellence during 2018-2021. Dr. Mikler now teaches in the BS in Psychology Program. She has also taught Perspectives in the Social Sciences, Interpersonal Communication, Cultural Awareness, Social Issues & Decision Making, Quality & Strategic Management, Principles of Business Management, Human Resources Management and General Psychology at other colleges and universities. Professionally, she works as a consultant, advocate and researcher in community-based settings in a variety of areas including climate and environmental justice, affordable housing, and health care equity and access for all. Dr. Mikler is the founder of She Ran Tech, Inc., a digital privacy and technology education initiative that educates and empowers girls and women on internet safety and securing STEM careers, especially for those who identify as a person of color.
