Todd Dickson

Dr. Dickson currently serves as a core faculty member in Walden’s Master of Science (MSN) Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program. He is board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with over 25 years of experience in clinical practice and 10 years of experience teaching in FNP and PMHNP programs both Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Master of Science (MSN) programs. His current clinical and research interest include working with persons diagnosed with a severe mental illness, and co-occurring substance use disorders, along with using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy in the treatment of addiction in clients with complex trauma.

He has an active private practice serving outpatient clients with psychiatric disorders. In addition, he provides medication treatment to patients with opioid use disorders. He is an active member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), the International Nurses Society on Addictions (IntNSA), and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Dr. Dickson obtained his DNP from Walden University’s first graduating DNP class in 2014, and his scholarly project implemented a pain assessment program in community-dwelling older adults with moderate to severe cognitive impairment using a quality improvement approach.
