Dr. Wellman received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Kentucky in May 2013. She received her Masters Degree from the University of Kentucky in May 2007 and her Family Practice Certification from the American Nurse Credentialing Center in 2007.

Dr. Wellman currently has a Family Practice office that is associated with Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Mercy Bon Secours, where she has been employed since June 1995. She has over 30 years experience in health care. Dr Wellman also serves in the Ambassador Program for Health Scripts, where she is a speaker for the products that they represent.

She began as a part-time faculty member at Walden University in the School of Nursing in October 2019. Dr. Wellman has previously taught at other universities where she taught courses in Sociology, Health Information Technology, Anatomy, Community Nursing and Theory. Professionally, she has worked in multiple capacities over the years, these areas include Emergency Medicine, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Med/Surg, Surgery, Infusion Therapy, Service Line Leader and as an Educator. She is licensed as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in multiple states. She has done research that includes Women and Thyroid Disease, as well as Diabetes Control in Appalachia that involves Education of the Patient and Family Members. She has served as a member for Capstone Committees.

Dr. Wellman has served in various capacities on multiple boards for her community and state organizations. She has served in a variety of capacities at the hospital and in the office. She has been involved in starting new areas of interest of the hospital that included a cost-effective infusion center for the community, as well as an orthopedic unit that had improved processes and outcomes.
