Dr. Holmes received his training in Epidemiology at the University of Texas School of Public Health where he earned his Masters and Doctoral degrees. His teaching experience spans some 20 years, including academic positions at Michigan State University and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He has also taught at Walden University for 19 years in the MPH and PhD programs in Public Health. Dr. Holmes is now a Contributing Faculty at Walden University. His research interests are in Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Research Methodology. He is worked for 2 state health departments, Arkansas and Illinois as the State Epidemiologist. He has also worked for Battelle Memorial Institute, a CDC contractor. He has received numerous grants while working in the health departments. Dr. Holmes was the site Principal Investigator on a NIH grant to study suicide among patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
