Suzie Goetz

Dr. Goetz received her Ph.D. in Nursing in December of 2014. Her nursing career started over thirty years ago. She currently serves as a Clinical Educator and Nurse Researcher. She is a member of the Nursing Research Council and has taught online since 2009. She was one of the first nurses to become a Suicide Prevention specialist through the American Psychiatric Nursing Association.
Dr. Goetz has worked in a variety of healthcare settings including inpatient, outpatient, orthopedics, detoxification, eating disorders, chemical dependency, at a migrant farmworkers clinic, children, adults, quality, case management, utilization review, coding and billing, teaching, risk management, quality assurance, and infection control.
Clinically and academically, she is interested in developing the nursing workforce toward evidence-based practice and research, anti-bullying, restraint reduction, and suicide prevention. Dr. Goetz is active in several professional organizations including the American Nurses Association, Nebraska Nurses Association, American Psychiatric Nurses Association, National League of Nursing, and the International Society of Psychiatric Nurses. Her research has focused on nursing topics including Decisional Involvement, Missed Care, Bullying, Compassion Fatigue, Delirium Reduction, and Behavioral Health Restraint Reduction.
Dissemination of her research and knowledge has been shared at local, state, and national conferences and publications. She was the recipient of Nursing Excellence and the March of Dimes Nurse of the Year awards and inducted into Sigma Theta Tau the nursing honor society.
