In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. With over three decades of experience in corporate consulting, instructional design, and higher education, Susan Schnorr bridges real-world business expertise with academic excellence. As a Contributing Faculty member at Walden University since 2011, she is also a former Lead Faculty Member and currently teaches in the Master of Science: Instructional Technology program and in the School of Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Studies program. She is recognized for creating inclusive learning environments that connect theory to professional practice.
Susan is the owner of Training Insights, Inc., a consultancy she founded in 1995 that partners with Fortune 100 organizations including GM Financial, Thomson Reuters, Pfizer, GE, DuPont, United Technologies, Bank of America, and Marriott. She designs and implements leadership development, sales training, technical instruction, and professional skills programs across diverse industries—from blended learning programs for 750+ sales professionals to corporate university development, safety compliance training, and coaching certification initiatives.
Before launching her consulting practice, Susan served as Advertising/Market Development Manager at 3M/Media Networks, Inc., where she managed regional operations, developed marketing campaigns, and served as President of the 3M/Cooperating for Growth Forum. This business foundation informs her instructional design approach, ensuring that learning solutions translate directly to workplace performance.
At Walden University, in addition to teaching, Susan also serves as a Facilitator and former Lead Faculty Member for the New Faculty Orientation program in the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Mentoring Excellence. Selected as Subject Matter Expert by Dean Sakris, she collaborated in the design of the degree-specific MS New Faculty Orientation course. She has contributed as a committee member for the BS/MS-IDT Academic Program Review and as a Degree Accelerator Program Portfolio Reviewer, and is a former Member of the College of Education and Leadership's Contributing Faculty Advisory Board. She previously taught at St. John Fisher College's Executive MBA program in Rochester, New York
Susan holds a Master of Science in Instructional Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology, a Certificate in Entrepreneurial Studies from the University of Rochester Simon Graduate School of Business, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina. Her professional certifications include Robert F. Mager's Criterion-Referenced Instruction, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator administration, and eLearning Guild's Design and Development of VILT. She is also certified in InsideOut® Coaching and enjoys mentoring her students in academic and career development strategies.
