Dr. Sola Kippers joined the online Mental Health Counseling program in the School of Counseling at Walden University in October 2023 as Contributing Faculty. She holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and an M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from the University of New Orleans. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) and an LPC Board Approved Supervisor in Louisiana.

Dr. Kippers has 9 years of clinical counseling experience with adults spanning part-time private practice, Associate Director, Career Services at Louisiana State University, Program Coordinator of a men’s residential addiction treatment program, Program Director of a co-occurring program for those diagnosed with chronic severe mental illness and addictions, and Counselor at a social detox program.

She has 21 years of graduate teaching experience, of which 18 years have been online instruction. In 2021-2023 Dr. Kippers served as Director, Field Training and Practicum Course Lead for a master’s in counseling psychology program in Canada.
Dr. Kippers has extensive training and experience in providing clinical supervision to master’s students during their fieldwork experience. Her teaching and supervising philosophy is to bring knowledge, experience, collaboration, and dedication to her professional relationship with each student to inspire excellence and foster a passion for the field of counseling. She meets students where they are in terms of factors that support their academic career which may include life experience, academic perseverance and talents with the aim of facilitating each student’s academic growth and success.

She has co-authored several publications and has given over 30 presentations at national, regional and state counseling conferences. She has served as a board member with the Louisiana Association of Counselor Education and Supervision and the Louisiana Association for Addictions & Offender Counseling. She is a past-president of Chi Sigma Iota, Alpha Eta Chapter. In 2019 she was awarded Senior Counselor Educator Award by the Louisiana Association of Counselor Education and Supervision.
