Dr. Ryan E. Smith is a veteran of administrative leadership and social work education. Having made a career of supporting institutions in the development and successful operation of their college and university programming at various levels, Dr. Smith, who is a licensed social worker, is fulfilling a lifelong goal of promoting education. Dr. Smith is a graduate of Morgan State University, where he earned a doctorate in higher education administration, Alabama A & M University, where he earned a master’s degree in social work, and Oakwood University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in social work. In addition to earning an undergraduate degree at Oakwood University, he served as an Associate Residential Life Coordinator, Assistant Vice-President for Student Services, Dean of Enrollment and Career Services, and he held the rank of assistant professor of social work.

Dr. Smith has been teaching social work courses for ten years and has taught the following courses during his career: Human Behavior in the Social Environment I&II (undergraduate and graduate); Rural Social Work (undergraduate); Diversity and Oppression (undergraduate); The Black Experience (undergraduate); Macro Social Work (graduate); and Human Sexuality (undergraduate).
