Roxanne Jeffries-Baxter RN, MSN, GNP-BC, FNP-BC, PMHNP, is a SAMHSA Minority Fellow pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. She is interested in studying effects MAT on opiate recovery rates among adolescences and young adults. She is also interested in exploring the effects of trauma based and trauma informed care on substance use disorder recovery rates.
Currently, She practices in an outpatient primary psychiatric care clinic that also treats clients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental illness. Her APN experience includes both medical and mental health practice across many settings including, long term-care, home care and corrections. Additionally, she has practiced in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment facilities.
She also serves in academia as an adjunct facility member at Walden University’s PMHNP program. She is also considering continuing with PhD studies.
She was born and reared in Philadelphia, PA., graduated from Philadelphia public schools and went on to receive her first Masters of Nursing from University of Pennsylvania. Ms Jeffries is commitment to doing her part in optimizing the health of her community and helping persons recover from the disease of addiction and trauma.
