Rebecca Moore

Dr. Maldonado Moore received her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Utah with a community organization concentration. She was awarded her PhD (2002) from Cornell University’s College of Human Ecology with a concentration in Planning & Evaluation, and minors in Cultural Anthropology and American Indian Studies. She has more than 20 years of practice experience in community-based development and has been teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in accredited social work programs for more than 15 years. Dr. Moore joined Walden University’s College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Social Work and Human Services in 2020 as a Contributing Faculty member.

A few of Dr. Moore’s major work accomplishments include serving as a founding member of an Interprofessional Learning Program (VIPL) at an RO1 institution as the designated social work course director. This ten year, longitudinal program continues to support Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy and Social Work students in the development of interprofessional competencies. During this same time, she served as a founding faculty member of the first collaborative MSW program in the middle Tennessee (USA) area with three in-state institutions in the delivery of a single program.
Dr. Moore was the MSW Program Coordinator and Field Education Coordinator representing the only Historically Black College and University in this collaborative.

Currently, she is engaged in the development of new curriculum and initiatives to support diversity across campus units at a liberal arts college in the southwest region of the United States. She serves as the chair for the President’s Council on Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion where she oversees the implementation of its strategic goals. Finally, Dr. Maldonado Moore is a commissioner on the national Council on Social Work Education Commission on Diversity and Social and Economic Justice.
