Park Balevre

Contributing Faculty
College of Nursing
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

My name is Park Balevre, and I have been a nurse for 48 years.
Before (and later after) starting my nursing career, I served in the United States Navy, where I was deployed around the world. I am a Vietnam veteran and served a tour of duty in the Naval Hospital in Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, among other interesting duty stations and commands.
My wife (we are both DNPs) and I retired from clinical practice as directors from the University of Florida Health in Jacksonville in 2011, after which we taught in a prelicensure BSN program. I started teaching in the DNP program in 2016 and just recently “retired” again to transition to a contributing professor role so we can explore our retirement bucket lists (We recently explored Hawaii and South Africa, and are soon to travel to Europe).
We live in Orange Park, Florida, and have 8 children, 14 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. However, we have only one at home: our 4 ½-year-old Giant Schnauzer, Miss Rosie.
