Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Nancy G. Runton received her PhD in Health Management and Policy from Walden University in 2014. She has worked in tertiary care, academia, and as a pediatric nurse practitioner in primary care and school health. Dr. Runton is currently continuing to work in school health, and is now also a Clinical Instructor in the MSN program. She is licensed in Virginia as well as in Minnesota as both a Registered Nurse and as a Nurse Practitioner. During her tenure as a clinical educator at Penn State, Dr. Runton developed a residency and an internship program for new nurses on the general pediatric unit and in the pediatric intensive care setting. Later, she developed an asthma program in primary care resulting in a 50% decrease in emergency room visits for her practice. Her research has included developing a Pediatric Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (Peds-BKAT) for intensive care nurses in collaboration with a colleague at The Catholic University in Washington DC, and also looking at youth risk behaviors in the school setting. Dr. Runton has published multiple articles in peer reviewed and international journals. She loves the educational process and is looking forward to being a new member of the Walden University community.
