Dr. Michelle Cranney started teaching in 1999, and has taught in both the traditional and online classrooms continually since then. She is a Doctor of Health Science, specializing in Leadership and Organizational Behavior, and has her Masters of Business Administration in Healthcare Management, and an undergraduate degree in Personal Finance and Health Information Management. She has earned her post-graduate certificate in Health Information Management as well.

Dr. Cranney is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder – Instructor (CPC-I), Certified Professional Biller (CPB) and Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) through the American Academy of Professional Coders. She is also a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and Certified Coding Specialist – Professional (CCS-P) through the American Health Information Management Association.

For over 20 years, she has worked in various positions in the healthcare field starting as a “runner” in the medical records department up to being a manager, as well as a consultant. She has focused her time working in physician practice and outpatient surgery.

At Walden, Dr. Cranney facilitates and develops courses in the Healthcare Management program.
