Michele Cournan received her DNP in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in May 2010. She is currently the Quality/Risk Manager at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady, NY. Dr. Cournan became a part-time faculty member in the College of Nursing at Walden University in August 2018. She is licensed as an Registered Nurse (New York # 416257-1effective 9/89, Minnesota #2465681 effective 6/18), Adult Nurse Practitioner (New York # F301-861 effective 2/97, Minnesota # 5982, effective 7/18) and as a Family Nurse Practitioner (New York # F336896,effective 7/11). She is also a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse since 1994. Dr Cournan is currently the Past President of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses. She has a number of publications and presentations on a variety of rehabilitation nursing topics including fall prevention, pressure ulcers, and legal issues.
