Dr. Cappello’s formal training is in environmental and public health epidemiology where he has served in various scientific and leadership roles over his 16+ year career. Currently, Dr. Cappello is a Managing Health Scientist and Epidemiologist at Cardo ChemRisk, a scientific consulting firm. Prior to this position, Dr. Cappello served as the Director of Disease Control and Public Health Response for the State of Colorado and as the Executive Director for the Northeast Colorado Health Department. In 2014, he was appointed by the Governor to the Colorado State Board of Health where he served as board president from 2015 to 2017. He is also a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) and has an Executive Certificate in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Cappello has been with Walden University for over 6 years and currently teaches Environmental Health: Local to Global and Public Health Administration & Leadership.
