Dr. Fearrington grew up in North Carolina and attended Wake Forest University as an undergraduate. After finishing at Wake, he attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he received a Master’s degree in Community Counseling. From there, he moved to the University of Tennessee for his doctorate in Counseling Psychology. One of the primary reasons that he chose to work towards a doctorate was because of his desire for flexibility in his career. That flexibility has allowed him to pursue numerous interesting professional opportunities. He has worked as a therapist in a rural community mental health setting. As part of that job, he worked primarily with disadvantaged and underserved populations. He was lucky enough to work in an integrated care system, which allowed him to work closely with medical doctors, nurses, and social workers to coordinate the care of his patients. He also has taught at the college level in both a campus setting and in the online world. He has worked at Walden since 2010 and, most recently, he moved into the role of Academic Coordinator in the Clinical Psychology program in 2016.
Dr. Fearrington has published articles on social media and narcissism. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and he is certified through the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
