Marshall Jones

Dr. Marshall Jones is a recognized innovator in teaching and expert in applied research methodologies. A practitioner at heart, Dr. Jones considers himself an “accidental academic” having earned his much of his graduate education in criminology and industrial-organizational psychology while working full time in law enforcement, mostly as a supervisor. Dr. Jones retired from policing to establish the forensic psychology undergraduate program in 2003, routinely teaching forensic and behavior courses in areas of criminological theories, forensic investigations, delinquency and prevention, serial offenders, violent crime, death investigations, organizational behavior, and leadership. Dr. Jones partners with criminal justice agencies in applied research projects. He routinely partners with the FBI and Florida agencies in exploratory research regarding offender motivations and victim interactions. His novel mixed methods protocols have gained attention and utility in exploring criminal behaviors not captured in official data sources. Dr. Jones is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps (active duty) and U.S. Air Force Reserves. He maintains his police certification and serves as a reserve police officer. Dr. Jones has been an invited lecturer at the FBI’s National Academy (NA), National Advocacy Center, Florida Police Chief’s Association, Missouri Sheriff’s Association, Florida Crime and Intelligence Analysts Association, International Association of Crime Analysts, and several local and regional practitioner organizations.
