Louann O’Dell received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee in May 2015. She joins Walden University as contributing faculty teaching informatics at the graduate level. Dr. O’Dell is a licensed registered nurse in Tennessee with a multistate
license, License Number RN 0000167571. License effective 2008 and valid through December 2023. She has been a registered nurse focusing on progressive care, same-day surgery, and informatics. She has taught Introduction to Informatics for the RN-BSN student and for the DNP student. She has also taught
Biostatics at the doctorate level to assist students to understand research. She has been involved in curriculum development for undergraduate and doctoral students in both Informatics and Biostatistics.
Professionally, Dr. O’Dell has advanced degrees in management and business. She has served as Chief Executive officer for multiple healthcare facilities, including sub-acute centers and long-term acute care
hospitals. Dr. O’Dell has served as chairperson for doctoral student projects focusing on the nursing implications in the vulnerable populations of the homeless and people who inject drugs in relation to
identifying needs and vaccine hesitancy. She has also presented at several national conferences in the areas of Informatics.
