Dr. Lola Johnston’s formal training is in Counselor Education and Supervision. She is a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor and has worked in higher education for 10 years. Dr. Johnston has taught career exploration and first year experience courses in addition to providing counseling services on campus. She is a Myers Briggs Certified Practitioner and enjoys helping others gain self-awareness by learning about their personality type. At Walden, Dr. Johnston teaches in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s Program.
Dr. Johnston’s current research interests include emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence, psychological ownership, burnout, and well-being of college counselor self-efficacy. She has presented on the use of creative arts in college counseling groups at the Alabama Counseling Association. Dr. Johnston currently serves as the president of the Alabama College Counseling Association.
