Dr. Lisa H. Bishop has served in various roles over her 20+ year career. Dr. Bishop has been a Graduate Clinical Instructor with Walden since 2013. She is originally from Oxford, Miss. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Samford University in Birmingham, AL. Her doctoral capstone and research focused on Anxiety protocols for primary care in rural settings. Dr. Bishop received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Mississippi University for Women, in Columbus, MS, where her thesis focused on the epidemic of obesity in children in rural America. Her Masters allowed her to sit for National Board Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for Family Nurse Practitioner. Prior to this, she received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Baptist College of Health Sciences in Memphis, Tn.

Dr. Bishop has an extensive clinical background as a FNP. She has served as a primary care provider in several nonprofit organizations in North Mississippi and South Louisiana. She enjoys the fast pace of acute care and urgent care settings. Dr. Bishop has taught in higher education positions related to clinical nursing at both online and brick and mortar schools. At Walden University, she contributes to the nurse practitioner practicum. She is currently working on a grass roots movement to standardize the national requirements of Nurse Practitioners. This has led to her passion in assisting students in their progression from the role of nurse to nurse practitioner.
