In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Zieman is an experienced senior nursing executive and adjunct professor of nursing. She is a Shaughnessy Coldiron Senior Nurse Executive Fellow through Case Western Reserve University and has been indicted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Through her involvement with these national organizations, Dr. Zieman continues to promote the professional practice of nursing through innovation, advocacy, and education.
Dr. Zieman completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at MGH Institute for Health Professions in 2021 and holds a master’s degree in Business Management and Leadership and a master’s in Nursing Leadership in Health Systems Management. Her certifications include a clinical certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) and a leadership certification (NEA-BC). Dr. Zieman was inducted a a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurses in 2024 for her work on academic practice partnerships and workforce management strengthening.
Dr. Zieman engages teams through her authentic leadership style, inspiring members to effect continuous improvement efforts with a patient-centered, service-oriented approach. Dr. Zieman applies her operational, clinical, and leadership experience to promote healthcare value through team engagement. Mentoring and succession planning are focal points for Dr. Zieman to ensure prepared, excellent nursing leaders for the future. Her understanding of the intrinsic link nursing has on patient outcomes (both quality and experience) and organizational sustainability are embedded in her work. Innovation is a core characteristic of her style, engaging her staff and students to think differently, perform boldly, and excel spectacularly.
