Dr. Laurie Latvis received her Doctorate in Healthcare Administration from A.T. Still University in May 2020. She currently serves on the Doctoral Committee for Walden School of Health Services. Dr. Latvis has taught Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Ethics, Medical Terminology, Leadership, and Strategic Management courses at other colleges and universities since 2007. In addition to Walden University, she is currently affiliated with A.T. Still University, Macomb Community College, and Siena Heights University. She is a registered nurse with over 38 years of experience in the healthcare industry in the areas of leadership, quality, utilization review, patient experience, risk adjustment, and population health.
Dr. Latvis’ research interests include patient experience, quality improvement, leadership competencies, emotional intelligence, employee engagement, patient-centered care, executive leadership development, and a variety of healthcare topics. Her dissertation was a qualitative study exploring leadership competencies affecting positive patient experiences. Her Master thesis was a quantitative study, exploring the relationship between emotional intelligence of leaders and employee engagement. She has abstracts published and presented on various topics including quality measures, leadership competencies, and patient experience.
She is a Diplomat and Fellow of The American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Inc. (ABQUARP) since 1997, a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). Dr. Latvis holds a Registered Nurse license in Michigan.
