Karen Hartje
Dr. Karen Hartje is a Contributing Faculty Member in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program at Walden University, starting Summer of 2021. She has been teaching face-to-face courses since 2009, hybrid and online courses since 2015, and served as the Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program at a previous institution. Additionally, she has served as faculty chair and committee member for scholarly projects. Dr. Hartje is a Certified Nurse Educator through the National League for Nursing.
As a Registered Nurse, Dr. Hartje was employed in areas of Medical/Surgical/Telemetry and Labor & Delivery (Level III) in an under-served population in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Currently she maintains board certification, through the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Adult Nurse Practitioner since 2009. As a nurse practitioner she has worked in the outpatient and acute care settings in Endocrine, Gynecological Oncology and Women's Health/OB/GYN.
Primary research interests include Women's Health, Diabetes, Veterans, and underserved populations.
