Dr. Julie Adkins earned her Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in Professional Studies from Capella University, a M.T. in Early Childhood/Elementary Education at Virginia Commonwealth University, and a B.A. in Economics at the College of William and Mary. Prior to beginning a career in higher education, Dr. Adkins served as an elementary school teacher and an elementary mathematics coach. Her favorite grade to teach was fourth grade. She has been teaching since 2009 in the online learning platform so has a wealth of knowledge utilizing effective teaching practices through the online modality. She also supports student teachers during their student teaching experience. Dr. Adkins also volunteers for CAEP where she serves as a site visitor to support the educator preparation program credential process and supervises student teachers during their clinical experience.
