Julia A. Leischner holds a PhD in Public Health with an emphasis in Epidemiology. She serves as a Contributing Faculty Member in the College of Health Sciences department of Public Health. Dr. Leischner currently teaches Multidisciplinary Approaches to Health, Socioecological Perspectives on Health and Environmental Health. She also has experience teaching Epidemiology and numerous courses in the Biology and Health such as General Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Nutrition, Biostatistics, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Environmental Science, Yoga Philosophy & Practice, First Aid & CPR, Human Sexuality, and Medical Terminology. Dr. Leischner also holds a certification in Environmental Risk Assessment and has previous professional experience in the industrial microbiological and environmental field as an environmental consultant, with environmental regulatory compliance, sustainable development, field sampling and testing, environmental process management, and environmental laboratory management. She is a certified Holistic Health Practitioner, Yoga and Pilates instructor, Reiki Master and Personal Trainer who works to promote population health by leading and developing community and corporate health promotion programs and working with private clients. She owns and operates Morningstar Holistic Wellness, a holistic wellness center and permaculture farm. Her research interests are in complementary and alternative practices that promote holistic human health and environmental health and sustainability. She is a member of the American Public Health Association.
