Dr. McCormick has been in practice as a professional counselor for 25+ years. She holds a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, an Educational Specialist degree, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision. She has practiced in community mental health, A&D rehab, as a school counselor, a counselor in a university counseling clinic, as a counselor educator, and as a supervisor of interns and counselors seeking independent practice licensure. Dr. McCormick has also had the great honor and privilege of serving as Chair and member of the Miss. Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors. She has served as Treasurer for the Mississippi Counseling Association. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (Miss.), Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (Miss.), National Certified Counselor, National Certified School Counselor, and Board Certified Telemental Health provider.

Licensed and certified as both a school counselor and a clinical mental health counselor, Dr. McCormick has taught and trained both school and clinical mental health counselors and has served as a university counseling program coordinator. Her areas of interest are: professional counselor identity, supervision, and counselor teaching/training.

At Walden University, Dr. McCormick has taught Pre-Practicum, Practicum, and has provided supervision for CES doctoral students.
