John Schmidt
Dr. Schmidt joined Walden University as a part-time Organizational Psychology Faculty Mentor in 1997. In 2016, he became a full-time Core Faculty Member as well as the Academic Coordinator supporting the Industrial/Organizational Psychology masters and doctoral programs. He received his graduate training at the University of Houston with a primary focus in human factors and industrial psychology. Dr. Schmidt is a licensed psychologist and board certified executive coach. His interests as a practitioner-scholar are tied to all aspects of applied psychology to include system design, accident investigation, safety management, and leader development. He has successfully chaired over 60 dissertations at Walden and participated in another 60 doctoral committees, and sees dissertation work as the cornerstone of being a Walden faculty member. After completing a highly successful military career, Dr. Schmidt sees his primary role as being to train the next generation of scholar-practitioners in the field. In the graduate courses he instructs, he emphasizes the need to make a connection with the practical application of what is being covered.
