Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

Dr. Joanne "Jody" Minnick is a full time DNP faculty at Walden University within the College of Nursing at Walden University. She been teaching in the DNP and MSN program and previously in other academic programs for ACNPs and FNPs for almost 10 years at Walden University. She has served as core faculty within the DNP program and has served on several committees in development of the curriculum, DNP program advances and has chaired several doctoral committees in her tenure.

She attended Texas Tech University, UTHSCSA, and University of Alabama for her nursing education. She is currently a dual boarded certification of Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). She attended the University of Alabama and obtained her doctorate (DNP) with a doctoral focus on improving the care and lives of injured sliders.

Dr. Minnick is experienced in academia/teaching, emergency medicine, flight medicine, geriatrics, neurosurgery, and critical care. All of these have been pivotal in shaping her character, passion for nursing and helped design her teaching philosophy in nursing.

Dr. Minnick has a very extensive history in research working in military and civilian areas. A very important experience Dr. Minnick actively participated in was the evacuations of children and adults during Hurricane Katrina and Rita, and is published on that evacuation experience. She was part of founding team of Enroute Care Research Center (ECRC) research division from the ground up with three other team members for the Unites States Air Force. From this research team she did her doctorate on the incidence of fever in injured soldiers, insurgents and civilians during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. From the development of the ECRC and the military, she learned so much and had amazing support from many different members of the military research team while completing her doctorate.
