Dr. Hazel Mahatha is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and licensed to practice across the lifespan. Each patient is treated based on individual assessment and need, using evidence-based practice. Dr. Mahatha is trained to provide treatment for mental health and substance abuse disorders. In addition, she is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Hazel served in the United States Army for a period of 10 years before transitioning to practice as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. She has served as a preceptor to nursing, physician assistant and medical students. She has served for seven years as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and 17 years in the teaching field.
