Dr. Gloria Richardson was an English teacher in the K-12 setting for over 30 years. She returned to Mississippi State University to obtain an EdD degree in Educational Leadership, graduating in 1989. Her doctoral study at MSU was on stress and its relationship to teacher burnout. Her career then continued with English teaching until she obtained her certification as an administrator; she was Curriculum Director for a public school system, lobbyist for a professional organization of teachers, taught in a Native American school, and became a professor at a small southern university. Her area of expertise was graduate classes in educational research and statistics, but she also taught classes in administration and early childhood education. She served as Principal of an early childhood program on the university campus. She retired in 2011 and has since become involved in mentoring students who are involved in educational research at the doctoral level. At Walden University, she teaches one class in Analysis and Evaluation, as well as several sections of Completing the Prospectus, Completing the Doctoral Capstone, and Doctoral Study Intensive.
Dr. Richardson’s current research interests include reading, literacy, and school improvement. When Dr. Richardson was active in various organizations, such as Mid-South Educational Research Association, she presented research finding regularly and served as Evaluation Committee Chair for the Annual Convention. She also served on the Board of Directors for MSERA. She has published various articles related to student teaching and disciplinary instruction. Since Dr. Richardson’s retirement she has kept active with Walden University doctoral students and their research interests.
