Dr. Fred Newell (Contributing Faculty Member)
Dr. Fred Newell served in the field of law enforcement from 1991 to 2020. During that time, Dr. Newell served as a supervisor of Special Operations with the Civil Emergency Unit (CEU) and SWAT Teams. Dr. Newell served in various positions as a Lieutenant Commander. Dr. Newell continued through progressive areas of leadership as he served as a Division Lieutenant Commander where he supervised over 100 Officers, Detectives and Supervisors. Dr. Newell retired as a Commander with Operations Command where he supervised and managed approximately 2,500 sworn and civilian employees on a daily basis. Dr. Newell has significant experience in curriculum and course design and has also served as a mentor on numerous Theses and Doctoral Committees in the areas of Criminal Justice and Homeland Security.
