Erin N Sweeney, PhD, MEd, MCHES® received her PhD in Health Education from the University of Toledo, a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University, and a BS in K-12 Health and Physical Education from Slippery Rock University. Before turning to academia in 2011, Dr. Sweeney was a middle school health and physical education teacher. Dr. Sweeney currently teaches health education teacher method courses as well as general health courses to undergraduate students. At Walden University, Dr. Sweeney serves on dissertation committees for Health Education and Promotion students. She is involved in many professional health education organizations (Society for Public Health Education and American School Health Association), serving on committees and presenting at national conferences every year. She also is a reviewer for multiple journals in the field, while also having her own research published. Her research interests include adolescent health, student drug testing, injury/violence prevention, pedagogy, and sexuality.
