I wanted to share some of my education and experience with you. I am an RN of 47 years starting as a Diploma RN. I was an intensive care nurse specializing in cardiovascular nursing. My clinical career ended due to chronic work exposure to disinfectants including Quaternary ammonium while working in a cardiac catheterization laboratory. I returned to school in 2003 and achieved my BS in 2005 from Texas Woman's University (TWU), my MS in 2010, and my Ph.D. in 2011 from the University of Maryland School of Nursing in Baltimore (UMSON). I am an Environmental Health nurse with a post master's certificate in Environmental Health from UMSON. My research population is RNs and their workplaces, but I have expanded this to also include the general public regarding hazardous chemical exposures. I have taught Public Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Population Health, Global Health, Leadership, and Research on the graduate and undergraduate levels. I also chair Ph.D. candidate committees guiding them through their dissertation process. My favorite course to teach is Research/Evidence Based Practice. I am an active member of the American Nurses Association (ANA) and have been active in the Maryland Nurses Association (MNA) working on both the Legislative and Environmental Health committees before recently moving to Delaware. I have written and delivered testimony representing the MNA to the Maryland General Assembly regarding hazardous chemicals to promote legislation protecting the public's health. I now have recently moved to Delaware, close to the beach. I have one daughter, Alicia, and two granddaughters, Sagely and Mirabelle. I now am blessed with a grandson, Charlie, that thrills my heart. I also have a 4-year-old Border Collie mix, Molly, who makes my life wonderful.
