Don Walker

Dr. Walker is a family nurse practitioner (FNP) certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) since 2007. In 2017 he received the Doctor of Nursing practice degree from the University of Arkansas (UA) - Eleanor Mann School of Nursing (EMSON). He attended Saint Louis University from 2003-2008 to earn a master and post-master’s degrees as an FNP/geriatric nurse practitioner (GNP). Doctoral capstone titled: Implementing an Evidenced – Based Algorithm to Treat Low Back Pain: Are Providers Adhering to the Evidence? Dr. Walker’s nursing experience spans 30 years with 13 years as an FNP/GNP. H began his nursing career as an LPN in 1988. Clinical experience in primary care, hospitalist, emergency department and urgent care. Dr. Walker is an adjunct faculty member with Walden University. He is an adjunct faculty member with the UA EMSON - DNP program, UA Fort Smith BSN program and visiting professor - Chamberlain University. Active member of AANP, Arkansas Nurse Practitioner Association (ANPA) and Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Pi Theta Chapter. As a UA EMSON graduate assistant, assisted with Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant projects. Presented DNP capstone through a poster presentation at the International Conference on Nursing Science and Practice 2017. Attended the 2016 Student Policy Summit in Washington, DC as a student representative of the University of Arkansas. Activities during the summit included immersion in didactic program sessions focused on the federal policy process and nursing’s role in professional advocacy. Met with US Senator from Arkansas John Boozman and US Representative from Arkansas Steve Womack.
