Dr. Reed is a Walden University Adjunct Faculty Member, specializing in Emergency Management in the School of Public Policy and Administration. As a career military police officer in the Army, Dr. Reed did everything from community policing to police command, security operations, felony criminal investigations, and community chief of police. During his ten years in Europe he had the opportunity to work with civilian and military police from Germany, Great Britain, The Netherlands, and Belgium. Since 9/11 Dr. Reed has been a strategic-level homeland defense/security plans and operations director for the Department of Defense (DoD). He worked on the DoD response to the 9/11 attacks, as well as to Hurricane Katrina. In his current capacity, Dr. Reed works at U.S. Northern Command and his area of responsibility is North America (U.S. and Canada), Mexico, and The Bahamas. Since 9/11, he has been directly or indirectly involved in the response to virtually every disaster in the homeland that required DoD support. Most recently, in 2017 Dr. Reed was a Crisis Action Team Leader in the U.S. Northern Command Future Operations Center for the DoD support to Hurricanes Harvey (Texas), Irma (Florida), and Maria (Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands).
Dr. Reed and his wife, Victoria, live in Colorado Springs, in the foothills of Pikes Peak. They are avid travelers and enjoy natural and historical sightseeing, music, and literature. They occasionally like to escape by going off the grid in the solitude and beauty of the Rocky Mountains with their dog, Zelda.
