Dr. Daphnee Hoskin’s formal training is in public service (public health/law enforcement/emergency management) where she has served in various roles over her 10+ year career. Although the majority of Dr. Hoskin’s professional work experience was obtained in a government setting, she has gained more than 15 years of experience conducting professional development sessions, promoting organizational change within various environments, implementing and evaluating training programs, writing grants, and conducting research and assessments. In the realm of academia, Dr. Hoskin has provided instruction to learners in a traditional, blended, and virtual setting in the areas of health, public policy and administration, public health, etc. As a facilitator and researcher, some of her past and present responsibilities include participating as a peer reviewer/editor, devising, developing, and delivering presentations, facilitating individualized and group training sessions, and conducting quantitative and qualitative research.

Currently, Dr. Hoskin serves as the founder of Preparing Every Town, Person, and Residence for Emergency Planning, a nonprofit organization in Frisco, Texas and serves as a contributing faculty member in PhD Program of Public Policy and Administration-which is housed in the School of Public Policy and Administration within the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Walden University. Dr. Hoskin has served and is available to serve on doctoral student dissertation committees. Dr. Hoskin’s current research interests focus primarily on Natural disasters and the lack of pet preparedness: A public health concern; Pet preparedness: Diminishing the impact that disasters can have on the pet population; and Emergency preparedness behavioral patterns: What are the intentions and actions of ethnic groups towards emergency preparedness?
