As an instructor for Teacher Education, Dr. Jen Xu teaches the Special Education courses. She has a Ph.D. in Education and an M.A. in Special Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She was an elementary teacher, a college instructor, and an editor for an academic journal. Her primary area of interest has been the applications of educational technologies with students who have special needs. Her current interest is Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism. She has taught online courses as well as face to face courses for over 20 years. Teaching is her second career; her first job, of four years, was an editor.

As an online educator, Dr. Jen XU has been a contributing faculty member at Walden University since 2003 and teaches in the Special Education and ITC programs. Courses taught include Strategies for Teaching English as a Second Language, Adapting Instruction Using Evidence-Based Strategies, and Advanced Behavioral Intervention in Special Education. Dr. Jen Xu also proudly serves as a support group leader for families who have children with moderate to severe autism. Dr. Jen XU has published journal articles on special education and instructional technologies.
