Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
Prior to joining Walden, she served as the Executive Director for Nursing Practice and Academics at the Greenville Health System, an academic seven hospital system in northwest South Carolina. She has served as both Provost and Dean of Nursing for American Sentinel University and the International University of Nursing, West Indies. She was formerly the Dean of Health Sciences and Nursing at the University of Phoenix. Her prior nursing experience was in senior administration in ambulatory care, home care, and managed care.
Dr. Garner holds a Doctorate in Public Health Policy and Administration from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where she was a HRSA Leadership Fellow. She holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Tennessee State University, and Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellowship. She recently completed a Harvard-Macy Foundation fellowship in Educational Innovation.
