Dr. Barbara Turner has been fortunate to have a very diverse career from nursing to information technology and finally academics. Barb was a civilian and military nurse spanning 23 years in various roles in SICU, ER, ICU, OR, and RR as an Emergency Services Director, Nurse Manager and House Supervisor. She is a USAF veteran. Her service began in the Arkansas Air National Guard and then active duty. She participated DESERT STORM and other operations deploying to Bosnia, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait as a flight nurse and Director of Emergency Services. She left the AF at the rank of major to pursue a doctorate. From there she became a team lead and then IT manager for two major health care organizations. Her last adventure was in academics where she became the Director of Academic Affairs for the Asia Military Campus for the University of Phoenix from 2004-2015 managing 14 learning centers across Japan, South Korea, and Guam with 13 core faculty and more than 100 contributing faculty. Barb’s online teaching experience goes back to 2002. Since January of 2016, Barbara has served as contributing faculty for Walden University.

She is currently serving as Core Faculty for Research, ACBSP credentialer, and Faculty Onboarding Coordinator for the PhD Management Program

Barb has served in several academic faculty roles from administrator to dissertation chair, committee member, university reviewer, grant reviewer, course developer, and online faculty. Her research specialty is Phenomenology. She has conducted both qualitative and quantitative studies, two of which were published in national nursing journals while a student in the Applied Psych- Org Management program at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. She has more than post graduate hours in statistics and research stats. Over the past decade and a half, Barb has worked with students using qualitative methods to include both transcendental and hermeneutic phenomenology, Delphi, case study, mini ethnography, auto ethnography, phenomenology, and narrative inquiry studies and various types of quantitative designs.
