Dr. Coins is an accomplished mental health therapist, educator, and consultant who is fully vested in providing equitable mental health care to marginalized groups. As a mental wellness advocate, Dr. Coins develops curriculum for mental health and wellness programs.

Dr. Coins serves as contributing faculty at Walden University in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program and she is a mental health provider. She has two undergraduate degrees in Psychology from Hinds Community College and Jackson State University respectively. Dr. Coins has a Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Doctor of Professional Counseling (D.P.C.) from Mississippi College.

Dr. Coins is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) - Alabama, National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH). She is also a strategic planner who facilitates corporate professional development training via experiential learning in mental health and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Dr. Coins’ counseling specialties include marriage and family counseling, divorce, infertility, stress, anxiety, relationships, family conflicts, self-esteem, motivation, and coping with life changes.

Dr. Coins has worked as a Director of Counseling in higher education, as a faculty member teaching multiple courses including Research and Multicultural Counseling, and is a provider in private practice.
