Each state has different licensing requirements. Contact our Enrollment Specialists at 1-866-492-5336 and review your state’s department of education website. The state statutes, regulations, or rules outline the license requirements; review all information on the website, including the licensure application. It is important to compare your state’s licensure requirements with Walden’s degree program and your experience.

Invitations to register for the winter 2022 commencement will be sent to the graduating winter class of 2021. These invitations will be sent on a rolling basis as graduates become eligible. To be eligible to receive an invitation to register to attend commencement, graduates must be on track to receive confirmation of their degree conferral by Monday, December 15, 2021. Registration for commencement closes on December 15, 2021.
The graduation application and commencement registration are two separate activities.
- Graduation application: To be eligible to receive an invitation to attend commencement, you must first apply to graduate and receive confirmation of your degree conferral from the graduation team. The email confirmation of your degree conferral will include details on the commencement ceremony for which you are first eligible to attend. This e-mail is different from your invitation to register to attend commencement.
- Commencement registration: Once you receive conferral of your degree you are eligible to receive an invitation to register to attend commencement. To be included in the virtual ceremonies, you must successfully register to attend using the link in the invitation e-mail from the commencement team. Invitations to register to attend the winter 2022 commencement will only be sent to the graduating winter class of 2021 and previously eligible graduates who are eligible to attend.
Please note that it takes two to four weeks to process the confirmation of your degree conferral. If you have questions about your requisites for completion, estimated graduation date or when you can expect confirmation of your degree conferral, please reach out to your Student Success Advisor.

The virtual commencement will be available to watch on the winter 2022 commencement showroom page and Walden’s Winter 2022 commencement Facebook event page.

In addition to participating virtually, graduates can also choose to participate in a future in-person commencement ceremony when we resume. Find the calendar of future ceremonies on the main commencement website. For future in-person ceremonies, please do not make any travel arrangements or housing accommodations until you have successfully registered to attend the ceremony.
Graduates who receive an invitation to attend our virtual commencement will have the opportunity to indicate their interest in participating in a future in-person ceremony. To receive communications regarding a future in-person ceremony, we urge graduates to use the prompts within their invitation to indicate their interest in attending a future ceremony.
If you did not let us know which future ceremony you plan to attend during the registration process, please fill out the future ceremony interest survey.

Criminal justice professionals confront tough challenges each day as they work to reduce crime, improve public safety, and protect and serve society. Whether it’s a job in law enforcement or criminology, working as a criminal investigator or forensic scientist, a career in criminal justice is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference. Criminal justice professionals regularly combat a variety of issues, including:
- Mental illness – Tackling mental health in the U.S. criminal justice system is a big job, and one law enforcement officers, criminologists, mental health providers, policymakers, and other professionals with careers in criminal justice are all working together to address.
- Drug crime – With the growing opioid epidemic, drug-related arrests are putting an even bigger strain on the American criminal justice system. Many professionals in criminal justice have dedicated their careers to fighting the war on drugs through better law enforcement, more effective policy, and new laws.
- Cybercrime – Data breaches. Extortion. Cyberstalking. Identity theft. With internet-related crimes on the rise in the U.S., cybercrime has become one of the fastest-growing areas of focus in the criminal justice system.
