Introduction to Nonprofit Management Workplace Certificate

This course provides an introduction to the principles and practices involved in managing nonprofit organizations.  Students will explore topics such as volunteer development, marketing and social media, strategic planning, fundraising, financial management, and leadership in mission-driven contexts. Through real-world-focused assignments, students will examine the unique challenges and opportunities within the nonprofit sector and develop practical skills for effective organizational management. Upon successful completion of the course, students will have the opportunity to earn a workplace certificate in nonprofit management.

Nonprofit Board Fundamentals Workplace Certificate

The purpose of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to serve on or collaborate with a nonprofit board to advance an organizational mission. They will examine the essential roles, responsibilities, and governance practices of nonprofit boards. Additional key topics for exploration include legal obligations, financial management, strategic planning, public communication, fundraising, leadership oversight, and measuring progress. Upon successful completion of the course, students will have the opportunity to earn a workplace certificate in nonprofit board fundamentals.

Nonprofit Leadership: Strategic Planning Workplace Certificate

In this course, students focus on the ideas and activities related to developing and communicating strategic plans within nonprofit organizations. Specific topics include establishing a mission and vision for an organization, developing a strategic plan, communicating and implementing the plan, and measuring results. Through real-world-focused assignments, students will explore the tools and strategies that can help them develop effective strategic plans that strengthen organizational impact and sustainability. Upon successful completion of the course, students have the opportunity to earn a workplace certificate in nonprofit leadership strategic planning.

Admission Criteria

Admission is considered for adult students who hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. Applicants must also meet one of the following criteria:

  • You are 21 years of age or older.
  • You are less than 21 years of age with at least 12 quarter credits.
  • You are an active member of the military or a veteran with documentation of service.
