Hello, everyone. My name is Maria Onyia, Walden University Doctor of Education. My Walden degree is more than a degree. My Walden degree is a lifestyle. It has changed my life and has helped me change the lives of the people around me.
I run the OrgLearning Foundation in Nigeria, and what we do is adopt public schools. We go to the public schools. We pick up a particular school. We train the teachers. We provide resources. We supply school supplies. We set up centers in the schools.
I am always thrilled to see the joy, you know, the teachers, the students, the principals show whenever we arrive in a school. We've been able to make a difference. We give the children hope. We provide scholarship to many students from the public school system, and it's just been such a blessing knowing that with my degree I can effect my environment positively.
I also run Berkley Science Magnet School. Three children in Nigeria are receiving quality education at the primary level. We have about 20 students there on scholarship, because they can't afford the tuition. But they are privileged to have this quality of education at nothing at all. We provide them with everything they need, because they are the very poor. We also have Juliet Academy, a performing arts magnet school, 150 students, two-years-old.
All that I have been able to achieve because of my Walden degree. I will continue to work to reform the education system in Nigeria. I will continue to touch lives. I will continue to establish schools and adopt schools. I will continue to train teachers. Thank you.
