[MUSIC PLAYING] KATHLEEN SIMMONS: My name is Kathleen Simmons. I'm the program director for the bachelor of science in business administration, School of Management, at Walden. I hold a bachelor's degree in business administration from Charter Oak State College in Newington, Connecticut. I also have a master's of science in project management from George Washington University in Washington, DC, and a PhD in applied management and decision sciences from Walden University.
My background is in information systems management. I spent more than 20 years in the information systems management field working for a variety of businesses and organizations, including as an executive consultant for IBM. In 2002, I decided to pursue my PhD and move into the academic field. Since 2003, I've been working with Walden University in the bachelor of science in business administration program, teaching courses in business, management, information systems management, and project management.
My corporate experience included developing training materials and conducting training sessions for customer and users in the use of new technology. During my academic career at Walden, I worked closely with my faculty member to write and publish a number of works that were presented at various professional conferences. My area of research interest is information systems management, particularly with regard to technology-enabled student support services for students who study at a distance. So for my students, I bring the experience of industry, business, practitioner as a project manager, and also the experience as a distance student.
