Minneapolis—March 26, 2013—Walden University’s MS in Project Management program has been accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI) Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC) as of December 2012. PMI GAC accreditation affirms that Walden’s M.S. in Project Management program’s curriculum meets GAC’s rigorous standards, determined by an assessment of the program’s objectives and outcomes, faculty and student evaluations, on-campus and online resources and proof of continuous improvements in the area of project management.

Employers recognize the value of graduates of a PMI GAC-accredited program, who acquire the skills and knowledge needed to become business leaders in today’s global marketplace. It is a proud accomplishment to have our MS in Project Management recognized and join the ranks of a limited number of programs worldwide accredited by PMI GAC,” said Dr. Ward Ulmer, associate dean of Walden’s School of Management.

Walden’s online master’s degree program in project management provides students with the business, communication and leadership skills needed to manage projects and diverse teams in order to help organizations achieve their strategic goals. Earning a degree from a PMI GAC-accredited program can benefit students by providing them with project management training that covers the internationally recognized standards set forth in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)—Fourth Edition and preparing them for the certified Project Management Professional (PMP)® exam offered through PMI. Additionally, as a graduate of Walden’s accredited MS in Project Management program, students receive 1,500 hours of experience toward their Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential requirements.

GAC has accredited 87 programs at 41 institutions in 13 countries, with programs at 14 other universities in the process of accreditation. GAC accreditation ensures the quality of academic degree programs and their graduates in order to meet the standards of the rapidly growing field of project management.
