Minneapolis—July 2, 2012—There is a growing need for human services professionals, particularly in administrative and leadership positions, who can serve as advocates and social change agents throughout communities across the nation. Walden University’s new online MS in Human Services program prepares students to address a broad base of human needs and improve the delivery, accessibility, accountability and coordination of agency services.

Graduates with an MS in Human Services can help make a positive difference in the lives of individuals who are coping with issues such as addictions, domestic violence, homelessness and unemployment. Human services professionals work in diverse settings that may include group homes, halfway houses, correctional facilities, community mental health centers and social service agencies.

Walden’s MS in Human Services degree program features six specializations that allow students to focus on the area that interests them the most. These specializations include Criminal Justice; Disaster, Crisis, and Intervention; Family Studies and Interventions; Human Services Administration; Public Health; and Social Policy and Analysis and Planning.

This program joins a suite of related online degrees in the School of Counseling and Social Service, including the BS in Human Services and the PhD in Human Services. Students who earn their MS in Human Services from Walden may have the opportunity to accelerate their path to a doctoral degree by applying credits earned toward Walden’s PhD in Human Services program.
