Minneapolis—July 16, 2008— Walden University will celebrate the graduation of more than 3,500 students from 19 countries—including the first graduates of the Walden University/Universidad del Valle de México (UVM) Bachelor of Science Dual Degree Program—in Minneapolis at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at the University of Minnesota’s Northrop Auditorium. Rt. Hon. Lord Mark Malloch-Brown, Britain’s Minister of State for Africa, Asia and the U.N. in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, and also a former deputy secretary-general of the United Nations, will give the commencement address. The ceremony can be viewed live via webcast at www.WaldenU.edu.

Malloch-Brown was appointed to his minister post in June 2007 and previously served as U.N. deputy secretary-general, the second-ranking position in the United Nations. Recently, he has been an outspoken advocate internationally for an end to the violence in Zimbabwe. Malloch-Brown will address graduates and guests about the importance of applying education and research to better the world.
The first 27 graduates from the dual-degree program will receive a BS in Business Administration from Walden, in addition to their Licenciatura in Business Administration from UVM. Family, friends and officials from Mexico will join the graduates at the commencement ceremony.
